Camden County, GA Primary Election Results Set Stage for November 2024

The results from the Camden County primary elections are in, defining key races for the upcoming November general election.

Sheriff Race
In a high-stakes contest, Chaney secured victory in the Republican primary for Sheriff with 4,000 votes, defeating Trevor W. Readdick, who garnered 1,551 votes. Chaney will face current independent Sheriff Jim Proctor in November.

County Commission District 3
Cody Smith won the Republican primary for District 3 Commissioner with 342 votes over Marcus L. Hill, who received 311 votes. Smith, with no Democratic opponent, is expected to take the seat.

County Commission District 5
Incumbent Ben Casey secured another term as District 5 Commissioner, defeating challenger Mike Harris with a 544–463 vote margin. Without a Democratic contender, Casey will serve an additional four years.

State Representative District 180
In the State Representative District 180 race, incumbent Steven Sainz led with 3,074 votes (49.68%) but will head to a runoff against Glenn Cook, who received 1,673 votes (27.04%). The runoff is scheduled for June 18, 2024.
