Guilty Plea Brings Justice in the Tragic Murder of Ruby English

The Kingsland Police Department has announced a major step forward in the case of Ms. Ruby English’s murder. Octavin Grace pled guilty to Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault and received a life sentence, with a chance of parole after 30 years. This sentencing brings a measure of justice to Ms. English’s family and reflects the department’s commitment to accountability for violent crimes.

The case began in August 2023, when Kingsland officers found Ms. English with a gunshot wound at her apartment on Caney Heights Court. Although she was taken to the hospital, Ms. English did not survive. Mr. Grace, seen fleeing into nearby woods, later surrendered and was taken into custody. The department recognizes the work of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for their essential roles in solving this case.
