Local Camden County Football Star, Elyiss Williams, Balances Georgia Commitment with FSU Interest

Elyiss Williams, the rising football talent hailing from Camden County, Georgia, is making waves in the college football recruiting scene. Despite his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs, Williams recently drew attention from Florida State University (FSU) as he participated in their Elite Camp over the weekend.

The 2025 tight end prospect joined several other committed players from Georgia at FSU’s Elite Camp, granting him the opportunity to interact with FSU’s head coach Mike Norvell and tight ends coach Chris Tomsen. Impressively, despite his pledge to Georgia, Williams maintains regular communication with Norvell and Tomsen.

Reflecting on his experience at the Elite Camp, Williams expressed his satisfaction at reconnecting with Coach Norvell, stating, “It felt good coming back here and talking to Coach Norvell. We still talk on the daily. That’s my guy.” The familiarity between Williams and the FSU coaches dates back to his freshman year, establishing a strong bond over time.

Measuring an imposing 6-foot-8 and weighing 230 pounds, Williams is a standout player from Kingsland’s Camden County High School. His commitment to Georgia in early April caught the attention of college football enthusiasts, but FSU has continued to pursue the talented athlete, undeterred by his allegiance to their rival.

Despite his dedication to the Bulldogs, Williams embraced the opportunity to participate in FSU’s Elite Camp, deriving numerous positive takeaways from the experience. “Camp was great,” Williams said enthusiastically. “I put some work in and got better today. I learned some new stuff, came out and competed and had fun.”

Williams’ appearance at the Elite Camp marked his first return to Florida State’s campus since pledging to Georgia, but he already plans to make a subsequent visit during the upcoming summer or fall. Clearly, the connection he has established with FSU has left a lasting impression on the young athlete.
